Glenroy Heights at Kenmure Country Club

Glenroy Heights at Kenmure, map
The contact information for my company has changed since this 1997 brochure.
I developed a 58-acre subdivision of a gated golf-course development in Flat Rock, NC. The land had been let go for 26 years and was so thickly overgrown that it could not be walked through. Underneath was an old homestead and terraces that had been created without machinery.

Above and below are entrance plantings in 1999 and
an early spec house, ca. 1998.

Pond at Glenroy Heights
Silt ponds -- required for runoff -- can be accomplished with fish ponds. 10-year-old largemouth bass, anyone?
Roadside landscaping
The first section of 58.58 acres was purchased in 1993. Stone walls and entrance columns were constructed to set off this subdivision.
Overview before building
An aerial view in 1995. The roads are started!
Plat of Glenroy Heights
The southwest subdivision of Kenmure: 2700 feet and up, 58.58 acres of a 1440-acre golf-course development.
"Yorktown" model home

Volunteer heirloom apple trees
After a century of apple planting, there were apple trees of every color -- many of them heirloom varieties -- growing naturally. I underbrushed them, knowing the new lot owners would be excited to own them.
(Check out the long-range views north over Hendersonville!)
Road-sign area with stone bench, roses
This road-sign area was required, but it wasn't required to be ugly. I added a natural-stone landscape feature with roses and a stone bench for the many Kenmure members who enjoy this park-like plateau.
Landscaped driveway
A beautiful driveway. The best part is the endless views west toward Mt. Pisgah, visible beyond the trees.
